There are literally millions of apps available to us today – it’s almost overwhelming to think about learning each new “latest and greatest.” But amongst those, there are also many “tried and true” apps that have value for students at every grade level, even if they’re used in very different ways. From elementary to middle school to high school, we will discuss some of our favorites and how they can be used both with general and special education students.

Objectives: Participants will
Explore and discuss the benefits of specific apps for learning, productivity, and multimedia and how they can be applied at various grade levels
Discover assistive technology features available in “everyday” apps that can help students with special needs.
Develop lessons incorporating apps that may already familiar for students, so that the focus can be on the lesson content and not on how to use the technology

Outline:
Brief introduction
Exploration of 2 key apps at the elementary level
Exploration of 2 key apps at the middle school level
Exploration of 2 key apps at the high school level
Examination of the assistive benefits of these apps and how they can be used to differentiate for students with special needs
